Rudaw met the families and children of a number of leaders of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) who have been in detention for almost a month in Rojava.
The children said they could not celebrate Eid in the absence of their fathers.
“We did not have a joyful Eid. My father and his friends have been detained. People’s fathers were home, but my father was not. If he were home we’d have an Eid,” said one young girl.
Another wished her father a happy Eid in his prison cell:
“Happy Eid to you, to our president and all four parts of Kurdistan. Our father was detained for nothing. They made our Eid unpleasant. We wanted our father to be with us on this day. Without him this is not a happy Eid. We all miss our father. He is not with us, but I say happy Eid to him and all those in jail.
“This was an unhappy Eid without my father. I want him out. I miss him.” cried a young girl.
