Women weave intricate and colorful rugs and carpets in Kurdistan
By Sartip Othman
This business has been operating in the Kurdish city of Sulaimani for 20 years.
The women who work there weave carpets and rugs with their own hands and with a traditional loom.
Currently, about 10 women utilize the Jolai machines, while talking and listening to Kurdish music.
The rugs and carpets are then sold in markets and bazaars.
Kurdish rugs are desired for their intricate geometric patterns, often specific to their geographic areas.
