Basra is the source of some of Iraq's best music. The port of Basra has attracted diverse cultures and traditions for centuries. Once there were 50 local bands in Basra who attended events, weddings and bars.
Now most of them are gone except this small band. The Qusay Al Basri Band.
They're now in Erbil, Kurdistan Region. In Basra multiple attacks killed and maimed their members and customers alike.
They're known as Khashaba. The name comes from people who engaged in woodwork such as shipbuilding and repair work around the port.
In Erbil they entertain Arab tourists who visit Kurdistan the year-round from the center and south of Iraq.
