ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Nechirvan Barzani, the prime minister of the Kurdistan Region, held a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday to discuss bilateral relations. Barzani congratulated Erdogan on his reelection in Turkey's June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections.
This is the second phone conversation between the two leaders since the Kurdistan independence referendum, which Ankara fiercely opposed.
They last spoke in April when Erdogan called Barzani to express his sympathies following the death of the KRG PM's twin brother Dilovan Idris Barzani.
