Chanting, “Long live the resistance of Afrin,” hundreds of Kurds took to the streets of Bonn, Germany on Saturday to protest Turkey’s offensive into the Kurdish enclave of Afrin in northwestern Syria.
"We will push Germany to convict Turkey for its offensive on Afrin and the region, and to pressure the Turkish government to stop the war soon,” said one of the protesters, Zhiar Badirkhan.
Kurds are gathering across Germany and Europe protesting to further bring attention to what Turkey calls Operation Olive Branch asking the international community to intervene.
The Turkish operation, which began on January 20, has claimed the lives of at least 68 civilians, including 21 children and 12 women, as reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
