Talabani fans in Erbil pay candle lit tribute to late Kurdish leader

By Rudaw 4/10/2017

Jalal Talabani, the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and former Iraqi president, died on Tuesday, age 83. He passed away at a German hospital.

His fans, supporters and members of his party observed a night of vigil to mourn his death in Erbil.

Talabani has been hailed by Kurdish, Iraqi and world leaders as someone who played a major role in the post-Saddam Hussein Iraq and was known for his ability to gather all Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni parties around the constitution.
