Philanthropy gives boy a new lease on life

Dahen has had pancarditis (inflammation in the heart) since he was a 1-year-old.

The Kurdistan Region lacks the medical specialists to perform his much-needed heart transplant surgery.

The cost for the surgery in India is $150,000.

An donor became aware of Dahen's story and gave his family the money.

Now, Dahen has returned home and is even playing football.

"I feel like this is a dream whenever I think of how I got Dahen to India, implanted a heart and now I am back with my family. I still cannot believe it. It feels like a dream," said his mother, Awat Abdullah.
