ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Hungarian Defence Minister Istvan Simicsko arrived in Erbil on Tuesday for a two-day visit to meet with Kurdistan Region officials regarding the war against the Islamic State.

Rudaw’s correspondent at Erbil International Airport reported that Istvan Simicsko was welcomed by Nawzad Hadi, Erbil’s governor, and authorities from the Peshmerga ministry.

Simicsko will meet with President Masoud Barzani and other Kurdish officials to discuss the ISIS war and Kurdistan Region-Hungary ties.

Csaba Vezekenyi, Hungarian consul-general, announced earlier that Hungary is to send more ammunition to the Kurdish Peshmerga as part of Hungary’s efforts against the threat of ISIS.

Hungary has sent some 275 tons of ammunition and weapons to the Kurdistan Region and Hungarian advisors are training Peshmerga forces.

Amazing, a small country like Hungary has contributed more in the fight against daash through providing military aid to our forces than most of the big powers who pretend to be fighting them. Long live Kurdistan and Hungary! and much respect to the Hungarian people.

Most welcome people and most welcomed military assistance we need. Our Kurdish officials must use the opportunity to gain these countries support for independence.
