Hungarian Defence Minister Istvan Simicsko is greeted at Erbil International Airport by Erbil’s governor and Peshmerga officials.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Hungarian Defence Minister Istvan Simicsko arrived in Erbil on Tuesday for a two-day visit to meet with Kurdistan Region officials regarding the war against the Islamic State.
Rudaw’s correspondent at Erbil International Airport reported that Istvan Simicsko was welcomed by Nawzad Hadi, Erbil’s governor, and authorities from the Peshmerga ministry.
Simicsko will meet with President Masoud Barzani and other Kurdish officials to discuss the ISIS war and Kurdistan Region-Hungary ties.
Csaba Vezekenyi, Hungarian consul-general, announced earlier that Hungary is to send more ammunition to the Kurdish Peshmerga as part of Hungary’s efforts against the threat of ISIS.
Hungary has sent some 275 tons of ammunition and weapons to the Kurdistan Region and Hungarian advisors are training Peshmerga forces.
