Winter essentials delivered to refugee families in Erbil’s Qushtapa Camp

By Rudaw 12/1/2019
Aid agencies have delivered winter essentials to 1,950 refugee families living in Qushtapa Camp, 23 kilometers south of Erbil city.

The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) and the Emirate Red Cross made the deliveries as recent wet weather is replaced by freezing temperatures.

Opened in the summer of 2013, Qushtapa Camp is home to around 7,900 people, the majority of them Kurds from Syria’s northeastern province of Hasaka and the capital Damascus.

Although camp accommodation has improved over the years, regular deliveries of blankets, clothing, food, and fuel are needed to survive the biting winter weather.

The deliveries come as refugee camps across the Middle East battle to cope with flooding, snow, and freezing temperatures.
