ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The Kurdistan Region’s election commission set the period for official campaigning for the parliamentary election from September 5 to 28.
The election body made the announcement on Sunday.
The Kurdistan Regional Government last held elections in 2013. People in the Region are scheduled to go to the polls on September 30.
The Kurdish parliament has 111 seats – five of them allocated to Turkmen, five for Chaldeans and Assyrians, and one for Armenians.
Voting will begin at 8am and finish at 6pm.
The electoral commission says preliminary results will be announced within 72 hours of polls closing.
Cameras and cellphones are banned in polling stations.
