ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — After launching a trip to the US and some European countries, Kurdistan region President Masoud Barzani returned to Erbil Wednesday evening.
After holding several successful meetings with top US, Hungarian and Czech leaders, Barzani and his KRG delegation returned to Kurdistan, according to a release by the office of the presidency.
Barzani arrived in Washington on May 2 and met with US President Barack Obama and top American officials to discuss the latest security developments in the Kurdistan region, the role of Peshmerga forces in the impending military campaign against the so-called Islamic State in Mosul and the issue of Kurdish independence.
The Kurdish cause had been well received in Washington and exceeded expectations, Barzani told Rudaw Friday in an exclusive interview in the Czech capital Prague.
