ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The leader of the Change Movement (Gorran) returned to the Kurdistan Region from London on Saturday.
Shorsh Haji, spokesperson of Gorran told Rudaw that their leader [Nawshirwan Mustafa] who spent about eight months in the United Kingdom has returned to Sulaimani. Haji was unaware of what prompted Mustafa’s return.
Mustafa left the Kurdistan Region for the United Kingdom on September, 3, 2016. Gorran leaders previously have said he went to the UK to receive medical treatment.
Mustafa led the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) reform wing, but in 2009 Gorran broke away from the party after the PUK’s political infighting escalated.
Gorran has 24 seats in the Kurdistan Parliament, the second most after the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
His wife passed away in March, but he could not attend her funeral held in Sulaimani.
