German FM arrives in Erbil

By Rudaw 19/4/2017
-

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region -- German's Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel has arrived in Erbil, Wednesday evening.

He was accompanied by the German consul and welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani.

Gabriel is expected to meet with President Masoud Barzani.

Germany has been a main supplier of weapons to the Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces since the start of the war against ISIS nearly three years ago, providing anti-tank Milan missiles that have proven effective against car bombs on the frontlines.

In Baghdad earlier on Wednesday, Gabriel said his government would continue its support for Iraq, including humanitarian aid.
