ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – There is no turning back from the decision to hold a referendum on independence, Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani told a visiting delegation from Baghdad that included the Iraqi parliament speaker.

“The Kurdish referendum is a decision that there will be no turning back from. The Kurdistan Region works to practice its own rights without violence and through peaceful means of dialogue and understanding with Iraqi parties,” Barzani told the Baghdad officials, according to a statement from the presidency’s office.

Salim al-Jabouri, Iraq parliament speaker, visited Barzani in Salahadin on Monday, accompanied by MPs and party representatives.

Jabouri had previously warned against any project that seeks to turn Iraq into “small states,” telling people who want to do so should seek life elsewhere.

In their meeting, Barzani also discussed factors that have caused violations of the Iraqi constitution.

They also discussed the security situation, the war against ISIS, the situation of displaced Iraqis, and Iraqi elections, according to the statement.

This is the Masoud Barzani I grew up loving. The one that didn't compromise Kurdish rights and this is when he's at his best. Please remain strong and the reward will be priceless. What I'm scared of is what happens after you're gone. I hope you live much longer but, I'm afraid no other Kurdish politician that I have seen has your resolve. All of them are too busy chasing money and power, and forget why they are there.

Disgusting creature that Jabouri, regrettably we saved him from the shia's once when they tried to kill him outside the Iraqi parliament. Now they've bought him off

Barzani is the leader who will give us the Kurdish State which is the natural right we have to recover after so long time of denial, wars and genocides.

President Barzani: Do not compromise! Stick with your plan to hold the referendum on Sept 25. Carry out this referendum the best way you can and with the support that you would have, with or without a convened parliament with or without a PUK support and despite all the noise against it. Your people love you and they will come out of their houses in droves to vote for their independence, from Duhok to Sulaimani and beyond.

President Barzani; More than 50 Million Kurds are with you and love you more than ever if you take them to independence. Please don't back off from independence because that is only way to stop genocide and killing of innocent Kurds which is been going on for more than 100 years.
