SHINGAL, Kurdistan Region – Fighting has broken out in Shingal between the Shingal Protection Units (YBS) and the Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi near Shingal, resulting in casualties on both sides.

The clashes were reportedly sparked when the Hashd al-Shaabi forces tried to cross through territory controlled by the YBS, an armed force formed by the PKK to provide protection for Yezidi areas, near Khanasour in order to cross the border into Syria.

Rudaw’s correspondent reported that two YBS fighters were killed as well as three from the Hashd forces. Seven more Hashd fighters are reported to have been injured.

The Hashd al-Shaabi forces could recognise the work the YBS has been doing and ask to cross, or is that beyond their abilities? Thanks Bahgdad for bringing more trouble to the north of Iraq, no wonder there is a vote for independence.

And what are Hashd al-Shaabi – official members of he Iraqi Defence Forces – doing "crossing into Syria"?

They happened because of miscommunication between both parties, they reconciled and they're working on a new joint control room in Sinjar to prevent any sort of happenings like today and to jointly secure the border with Syria.

I would consider such incidents between so called "Shingal protection units" (YBS controlled by so called PKK) and "Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi" with great suspicious now and after the self-determination referendum in Southern Kurdistan to avoid serious provocations there.

If Yezidies to be on their brothers side no one would dare to attack them. They were with Saddam and ISIS formed from ashes of Saddam but then attacked Yezidies. After Yezidies prefered to be with Hashd al Saabi and waved their flags rather than waving the Kurdish flags. Now Hasd al Shaabi attacking them. PLease do not blame Peshmerge for this. When ever you be with your people and left behind then make a complain.
