ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani told political parties on Tuesday that a referendum on Kurdish independence should take place before the US presidential election in November.

According to information obtained by Rudaw, Barzani said the Kurdistan region "should hold a referendum before the US presidential election kicks off," which would be next November.

On Sunday, Barzani met with top officials from the major Kurdish parties, including his Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Islamic Union to find formula to solve a political impasse and economic crisis in the region.

The meeting agreed to begin working on question of the referendum and resolve problems between the deadlocked Kurdish political parties.

I would hope true this time to announce independence in south of Kurdistan but now KRG is going with the most difficult stage, so before to do it Moushood Barzani should know that his people does not have money and their pocket has been empty and find out a suitable way to distribute salary to servant civil at once , it is really hardship that more than five months without salary. Please Barzni feel and see his poor people who is living under-poor life like your son and relative. Allah help his mankind and just you have full mercy over mankind

You should hold it on July 4th. That would make it politically impossible for America politicians to appose it.

Shame that Goran is not willing to even talk and try solve the issues. As long as KDP and PUK can unite, KRG will be fine and no jash or enemy can stop us. Reach political power sharing agreement. Reestablish security and ban all millitias immediately. Only Peshmerga can be armed. KRG is not the land of millitias. So much work but it all depends on PUK and KDP colloboration.
