Four women and two children recently rescued from ISIS in Syria have reunited with their families. Their reunion was bittersweet, however, as the whereabouts of many of their family members are still unknown.
“I did not see my relatives for three years. I came back, but my mother-in-law and children are still [under ISIS]. Not only them, but also my mother, sisters, and brothers,” said Muna Qasim.
The six are from villages in the Shingal area and were being held by ISIS in Raqqa and Mayadin.
As many as 6,000 Yezidis are still under ISIS captivity.
To date, 3,037 have been rescued by the Kurdistan Regional Government.
