Environmentalists provide food, water for birds during Kurdistan's hot days
By Mohammed Shwani
Nearly 20 volunteers gathered in the Kurdistan Region to raise awareness for local birds.
The Shawer Organization for Environmental Awareness provided seeds and water on a day where temperatures climbed above 40 degrees Celsius near Kasnazan.
The area, just outside the capital city of the Kurdistan Region of Erbil, lies in the foothills of the Zagros Mountains.
As grasses turn brown, the group hopes bringing water and food for the birds will help to allow birds to survive the dry months.
