Iraqi IDPs claim Shiite forces bar them from returning home

By Rudaw 10/1/2017
-

Thousands of IDPs who came to Kirkuk at the start of the war against ISIS two years ago now say they are barred from going home by Shiite forces. Around 20,000 families have gone home but another 30,000 families are still in camps.

An official from the Badr force, a Shiite armed group denied stopping any families from going back to their homes, adding meanwhile that some could be members of ISIS disguised as refugees and better coordination was needed between Salahaddin and Kirkuk on them.

An IDP official in Kirkuk said for his part that the huge number of refugees and IDPs has created a burden for the city and their resources are limited.
