Kobane rebuilds, step-by-step without international aid

By Rudaw 5/5/2018
.
KOBANE, Syria – In January 2015, the world gave ISIS its first major defeat – proving the strength and determination of the Kurdish forces backed by the international coalition.

That victory left more than 3,200 buildings destroyed or damaged.

Donors pledged funds to help with reconstruction at international conferences, but the people of Kobane say they haven’t received the promised help to rebuild.

“ISIS destroyed our houses. The mortars hit here. Can’t you see? We have patched everywhere and done what we can without anyone helping us,” Kobane resident Meliha Mohammed told Rudaw.

Another bemoaned the cost of building materials.

It is through the determination of the people that their city is coming back to life.

“We will work and build our house, step-by-step,” said Mohammed Miso.

If I recall correctly, at one point in the battle, there was an ISIS flag flying from the top of the grain elevators on the Turkish side of the border.
Stop betraying the Kurds | 6/5/2018
The coalition and the world have failed to honor the brave Kurds who fought and defeated the Islamic terror. The coalition has denied the Kurds to help rebuild the homes of the heores of Kobane. The coalition has, furthermore, agreed to the invasion of Afrin by Turkey and' its Jihadists. There is right now a terrible ethnic cleansing taking place. Outright betrayal. Shameful.

Kobane is being rebuild by the efforts of the citizens of Kobane, some help from Cezire canton and some volonteers. It shows one should rely on oneself and not on state or foreign aid. As such Kobane is an example for the whole of the region.

Where did the population seek refuge? Who cared for them during the entire fight...and even today many of them haven't returned...why? Where us the US & France?

I think you will find it was the coalition that completely decimated Kobane. History will see you as the betrayers of your own kind the aides to the white European colonialists. Just as some colluded with the Europeans to wipe out the native Amercians, you are sadly doing the same in the 21th century. Never ever trust them - you have already seeing the signs of betrayal.
