Syrian Kurdish YPG advances amid Russian air strikes in Aleppo region

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The Syrian Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG) have made advances at the expense of Syrian opposition groups in the country's north amidst continued Russian aerial bombardments being carried out in support of a major Syrian offensive aimed at routing out the rebels from that important part of the country.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, fighters opposed to the regime of President Bashar al-Assad abandoned the villages of Aqlamiyah, Deir Jamal and Mareanar on Sunday due to their fears of being bombed.

The YPG capitalized on the vacuum and advanced to seize those three villages. This comes mere days after they took another three towns from these groups.

Residents in the towns reportedly called upon the fighters to leave and let the YPG take over since that would lessen the chance of the Russians bombing them.

The YPG has clashed with Syrian military forces in the past but has not been part of the uprising against the Syrian regime and has been mainly focused on fighting Islamists in recent years. Russia claims to support Syria's Kurds.

The Russians are supporting a Syrian effort to close off the borders of both Turkey in the north and Jordan in the south, where Russian warplanes are supporting a Syrian offensive against a U.S.-backed opposition group.

The Kurds also want to close off Syria's northwestern border with Turkey which has long been a conduit to various anti-Assad groups, many of whom are Islamist and have killed Kurds.

PKK are arab-iranian slaves. Once Assad is done with the opposition he will turn on kurds like he and his father did for 40 years before the war. Then we'll see if Russia will chose fanatic communist PKK or his long time stable friends in Iran and Assad. Gorran, KDP, PUK need to form an anti-PKK coalition and protect Kurdistan from these communist fanatics who have spread their legs for arabs and iran.

So now the ISIL supporting Arabs and Turkmen are beging YPG to enter their villiages? the same YPG which allegedly erhnically cleansed them? The YPG should not have entered those jihadi supporting villiages before the Russians were finished bombing them to rubles! in a few weeks those same scum will claim YPG "drove them out"

Right, the Kurds have not been sitting on their hands on the edges of the strategic 60 mile Azza-Jarablous line: 1- In the west, as Rudaw reports, they have taken over (at the request of the local residents who feared for their homes being bombed)several villages and towns previously occupied by rebels. The Kurds are also assisting the humanitarian efforts to help the refugees. 2- And in the east there is more YPG/SDF forces build up west of the Euphrates near the Tishrin dam and with US special forces advisers arriving in Kobane in greater numbers, "Near the Tishreen Dam, which gives road access between Kobane Canton and Aleppo province, local reports say there is a huge build-up of YPG forces." according to reports by Peter Clifford.

Soon Erdogan will be cut off from his jihadists in Syria, 150 Turkish troops massed on the border will enter Syria when that happens. The only question here is will they enter the Azaz-Jarablus strip or all of Rojava?. If they enter Kurdish controlled territory they will be sticking their heads in to an hornets nest. The PKK will take of the gloves inside Turkey, the only thing holding PKK from retaliating with force inside Turkey so far has been guarantees that Rojava would be left alone. The Americans better do something and do something fast.

All Kurdish forces need to mobilise just as they did for Shengal and Kobani and prepare to go to Rojava on short notice. Turkey will invade soon and Rojava must be defended at all costs! If the Turks get a foothold they will never leave! look at Cyprus
