SDF forces attack ISIS east of Euphrates, capture dam

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region--Fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) attacked Islamic State positions east of the Euphrates Saturday, killing a number of militants and controlling a strategic bridge.

The SDF also took the Tishreen Dam from ISIS.

Rami Abdel Rahman, an SDF officer, told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that eastern Euphrates is now cleared of ISIS and "the battles are now on the western bank of the river."

Tishreen Dam, held by ISIS for over a year, generates electricity for parts of Aleppo Province.

The SDF is a coalition of Arab, Assyrian, Kurdish and Turkmen forces.

The Peoples Protection Units (YPG) is the main force within the alliance.

Capturing this dam constitutes its second major victory after it recently routed ISIS out of several villages in Syria's northeastern Hasakeh province.

Turkey is against the YPG going west of the Euphrates and it doesn't want the group to dominate all of the Syrian frontier with Turkey.

In a new released 24-minute audio, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi claimed his "caliphate" is doing well. The world knows that is just propaganda for his followers to believe as the truth is his self claimed "caliphate" is gradually being eroded and destroyed, even recently here at this dam and even recently in Iraq ISIS is being destroyed in the cities of Ramadi and Fallujah.

This appears to be the beginning of a major U.S. coordinated SDF offensive west of the Euphrates. Very good news!

Just remember this: It takes thousands and years to build a dam, only a bomb to destroy it. Choose your side wisely: Violence or collaboration. Destruction comes easy and you may feel an euphoria of victory. Once the dust settles, all you have is a broken country, broken land and broken people. Worth it?

@hans: as usual you are the apologist for Isis. Bring your propaganda garbage elsewhere. Now that your brothers are on escape route all philosophizing about destruction and rebuilding. Where were all empty preaches when our people were butchered in Kokanee?!!! Did you preach to sultan? Don't worry. Destruction won't be worse than the mess left behind in Shengal or Kokanee. Don't let me even start with genocide underway inside turkey or is it "outside propaganda"?!!!

Turks resettle 600+ ukranian turks in kurdish areas of Erzincan with new houses. While they destroy kurdish homes and makes them flee. Turdey knows that their luck is over and want do destroy Kurdistan till its over. But turds will vanish one day. Its happening right now.
