ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Two Turkish soldiers were killed and three others wounded in separate clashes between fighters of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Turkish army in the Kurdish city of Sirnak on Wednesday.

"The first clash took place at 00:30am when a group of Turkish soldiers were ambushed by PKK guerrillas, killing a soldier and wounding another," said Rudaw correspondent in Sirnak.

The Turkish army confirmed the death of two of its soldiers in a statement.

In a second incident 40 minutes later PKK guerrillas and Turkish gendarme exchanged fire in the town of Hezakh near Sirnak where a police officer was killed and two others critically wounded.

According to local authorities the second confrontation occurred when several PKK guerrillas were trying to enter Turkey from the Kurdistan Region through the village of Koijat.

The army statement added that it had captured 10 PKK fighters.

PKK media has not dismissed or denied the claim.

The Turkish army and PKK guerrillas have been locked in clashes in southeastern Turkey (North Kurdistan) since last July where more than 200 civilians are reported killed and thousands displaced.

Brave Kurds fighters have to save their lives! Long live PKK pishmarga and YPG.

If my geography knowledge correct, Sirnak is in Kurdistan and the two incident is in the heart of Kurdistan. The statement in the article "PKK guerrillas were trying to enter Turkey from the Kurdistan Region" is not correct. PKK is in Kurdistan; they did not try to enter Turkey. The Turkish solders have entered Kurdistan where they should not be and they are not welcomed in Kurdistan.

Does anyone really think that after these "operations" PKK will evaporate? They didn't learn a damn thing in 4 decades, you can't solve this conflict with arms or the use of force. Millions of Kurds will now move to western Turkey while Turkish and Kurdish coffins will trickle down every day. In a decade or two they'll again scream this has cost us another trillion and thousands of deaths! we don't want to see mothers cry. By then the Kurdish population in Turkey would have doubled making the notion of autonomy or even separation meaningless, because the prize then will be who rules Turkey. Turks like Sunni's in Iraq might find themselves begging for federalism.
