SULAIMANI, Iraqi Kurdistan: 7 of the 9 dead people in the Turkish flotilla carrying aids for Gaza were Kurds from Turkey, said Ali Qaradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS).

"I have been informed that 7 of them were Kurds,” said Qaradakhi.

Qaradaghi, himself a Kurd, has given the news first to Rudaw during an Interview in Sulaimani in the federal region of Iraqi Kurdistan.

On May 31, a lethal raid was carried out by Israeli commandos in the International waters of Israel, killing nine pro-Palestinian activists after boarding their vessel from a helicopter.

Israel said that it had warned the Turkish government to halt the trip.

The raid has soured Israel-Turkish relations.  Israel has refused to apologize.

However, Dawd Baghstani, a journalist writing on Kurdish-Jewish affairs denied the authenticity of the news publicized by Qaradaghi who was elected head of the IUMS in July.

“There was no Kurd in the flotilla,” said Baghstani, editor-in-chief of the Erbil-based ISRAEL-KURD magazine which is published in Kurdish.

They must be Turkified Kurds!!! Most Kurds support Israel to the bones. When was the last time Hamas or any Arab nation, for that matter, send a flotilla to Kurdistan?

Not only they havn't done that, but they have raped our doughters, killed our songs and banned our language. They have demolished Kurdistan. Only naive Kurds support Arabs!

Turkey is umpteen time worster than isreal when it comes to human rights.
if kurds had isreal as enemy instead of turkey they now were free and have had their own state.
few examples:
turkey did not recognize kurds and kurdish entity untill present; while isreal never did something similary stupid to palastinians.
PKK do not attack civilians while hamas do not make any difference between children woman old young innocent whatsoever.
kurds /pkk s demands are basic human rights such as kurdish language; traditions;cultural and ethnical identity while hamas willing to anihilate the state of isreal and the nation of isreal and establish palastina as single state.
pkk is a secular party while hamas is an ultra-religious party.
in turkey you can t even give kurdish names to your children while in isreal nobody cares whether you give arabic names to your chilren or not.
in turkey you can t use kurdish alphabet /letter such as "x" ;"w";"q"etc while in isreal nobody cares whether you are writing in arabic or any other language ...
turkey is simply big time worst er than isreal in this context;if we wanted to compare these two states.

You can't really compare Turkey to Israel on many different levels. For instance, Israel only attacked Gaza on behalf of defending their sovereignty even though I don't approve of their approach. However comparing Turkey to Israel is like comparing a pitbull to a poddle. For instance, Leyla Zana a kurdish politician got sentenced to 10 years to prison for saying the PKK is not a terrorist organisation, this just show how narrow minded Turkish government (or should i say millitary) is. Letting Turkey into the EU would be a disgrace to the Eu's laws.

always say that the Palestinians are very very lucky that they were never treated as badly by Israel as the Kurds were by Turkey. Though please note one major difference: Kurds want independence, Palestinians want to destroy Israel... hm?? never get tired of pretending that is not the case. Actualy research into what the Turks did in Kurdistan during the 90s (demolition of entire villages without any concrete military reason) - is very very different from the effective intelligence collection that is carried out by Israel

Do you know? QARADAI QATARY? on 10/08/2010 19:31:00

The parallels between the national narratives of Israel and Turkey are striking, the former founded in 1948, the latter in 1923. In Turkey’s case, the Palestinians are the Kurds, Hamas are the PKK, and the West Bank is south-east Turkey. Maybe this is why Turkey and Israel have had such a strong bond through the second half of the twentieth century, traditionally their governments have sympathized with each other as they carry out massive atrocities as centurions of the US empire in the Middle East. So while Erdogan was right to take on criminals like Shimon Peres maybe he should take a quick look in the mirror ……

Israeli birth certificates, ID cards, Traffic road- signs, passports, almost everything is in English, Arabic and Hebrew. Arabic language universities in Israel has international reputation, while Kurdish children in Turkey deprived their very basic human rights which is study in mother tongue, 10 million people and not one simple college in Kurdish, sure we can not expect from brutal states human rights , but this state in my view has not right to criticize Israel. Mr. Ardogam seems sorry just for children of Gaza, but not the children of Kurdistan.

If NATO, America, EU and Israel reduce (not cease) their military and internationally support to Turks, Turkish general’s future will be exact like their Arab colleagues generals in south Kurdistan (Iraq), and your future will be like Ali Hussein Majeed

Listen Ali,Turkey can get support from anywhere(they can get support from you too) they wish but they have not and (can not)
will not eliminate PKK basis in Kurdistan. PKK has support of
millions of people all around the world and we are not just few
hundred horse traders as Turks taught many years ago ,these days are
long over. PKK’s number change between few millions to ten’s of
million all around the world! 3 million people just in Europe supports
the PKK hole heartedly and many millions of more supports PKK in
Kurdistan.
