Oryx Petroleum hails successful test in Kurdistan’s Banan field
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Oryx Petroleum Corporation Limited announced the successful testing phase and appraisal of the Banan-3 well in the Kurdistan Region, which has been producing 1,500 barrels per day (bpd) from the Tertiary reservoir since the testing began 7 days ago.
"We are very pleased to have resumed operations at the Banan field with a successful appraisal well targeting the Tertiary reservoir," said CEO Vance Querio of Oryx Petroleum as reported on Wednesday by Oil&Gas 360.
The Banan-3 well was drilled to a depth of 500 meters between late May and early June 2018 with Tertiary reservoir being partially penetrated. Using a jet pump, oil is being pumped out at approximately 1,500 bpd.
Oryx Petroleum stated they intend to continue the extended production test of Banan-3 to assess the well's performance and are looking for ways to further increase production. Additional appraisals of the Banan field will be completed to seek more reservoirs.
"The average production rate achieved thus far is consistent with expectations and export of the oil is proceeding smoothly," Querio said.
Querio went on to add that in the Hawler license area for Oryx Petroleum, there is now approximately 5,300 bpd being produced.
"The drilling or re-entry of four more wells is planned for the second half of 2018 subject to the performance of existing wells," he added.
