Sulaimani International Expo opens with big Iranian presence
SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region – The 13th Sulaimani International Expo opened on Friday.
“We couldn’t hold the exhibition last year. This year, we held it successfully. It is a lot better than the exhibitions held in Iraqi cities,” head of Sulaimani business chamber Sirwan Mohammed told Rudaw.
More than 180 companies are participating, including many from Iran.
Iran’s consul in Sulaimani said this fair is even more important now because of US sanctions.
“Iran is under an illegal economic embargo and this will directly affect the Kurdistan Region and Iraq because of our relations. The US wants to elevate its sanctions gradually through Iraq and Turkey. But we will not give up on these relations. We will continue these economic relations, don’t worry,” said Consul General Saadullah Masudyan.
Companies participating in the event come from a range of sectors, including construction, industry, and agriculture.
The expo is being held in Tasluja. The six-day event is open to the public.
