ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — An Iranian cargo ship sank in Iraqi waters off the coast of Basra, state media reported Friday morning.
Nader Basandah, Director General of Iranian Maritime Security told state media the cargo ship "Behbahan" was carrying construction materials and ceramics from the Iranian port of Muhammara to the Umm Qasr Port in Basra when it sank for yet undetermined reasons.
Deputy Governor of Basra Kazım Finjan said one person drowned, and four have been rescued, while the Iranian and Iraqi navies continue searching for two crew members.
