ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The Iranian army on Friday claimed a new wave of attacks on US targets in Bahrain and Jordan, state-affiliated media reported, hours after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had “successfully completed” the thirteenth night of consecutive strikes on Iran.
"In continuation of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army's drone strikes," Iranian armed forces earlier on Friday struck the US military's "fuel storage tanks, large equipment warehouses, hangars and troop quarters... at the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, using Arash kamikaze drones,” the army's public relations department said in a statement carried by the state-run Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA).
The US military's "aircraft hangars, aircraft maintenance facilities and housing quarters" at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan's al-Azraq region "were also targeted by Army drone strikes," the statement added, warning that "any action taken against the legitimate and legal interests of the [Iranian] nation" would "also compromise the security and economic interests of other countries in the region."
A day earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have "launched a drone attack targeting and destroying a large military equipment warehouse, a Patriot air defense system and an MQ-9 drone hangar" at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
In a Thursday statement, the IRGC added that it struck "the housing quarters of US forces and two helicopter hangars" at Udairi Army Camp, claiming the attack “killed and wounded” a number of US personnel and “inflicted heavy damage on several helicopters, drones and a telecommunications tower.”
The Iranian forces framed the attacks as part of their response to the ongoing US strikes across Iranian territory, the latest of which included overnight strikes on Friday on Andimeshk, Omidiyeh and Ahvaz in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province; the port city of Bandar Abbas and nearby Qeshm Island in the southern Hormozgan province; and the Firuzabad region in the southern Fars province as well, according to Iranian state media.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that its forces "successfully completed" a thirteenth consecutive night of strikes against Iran on Friday, adding that targets included "military command centers, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites and maritime capabilities."
In a previous statement, the Command said that since the naval blockade against Iran resumed nine days ago, its forces had "redirected 12 commercial vessels and disabled one to prevent ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas."
