Heavy rains were reported in several Iraqi provinces on Wednesday. State media reported that Diwaniya, Salahaddin, Muthana and Dhi Qar provinces have announced Thursday a public holiday due to the storm.
Heavy rains caused flooding in parts of Erbil province on Wednesday but the Kurdistan Regional Government has not announced any public holidays.
Public holidays are common in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region during natural disasters and bad weathers.
Emergency services will not be affected by the public holiday.
