ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Halkawt Aziz, Rudaw's bureau chief in Baghdad, filed a report about one of Iraq's most contentious issues - the disarmament of Iran-backed armed groups - a day before losing his life in a traffic accident on the Baghdad-Basra highway on Monday afternoon.
The report was published posthumously.
He was seriously injured after his vehicle collided with a truck. He was taken to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Aziz, 36, is survived by his wife and two children.
