ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - At least three people were killed and two others injured after a fire broke out at a house in Sulaimani province’s Hajiawa subdistrict on Thursday afternoon, civil defense authorities said. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
Head of the Raparin Administration's Civil Defense Directorate Hussein Abdullah told Rudaw that the fire started at a women's tailor shop. He said it may have been triggered by the explosion of a gas cylinder.
Hajiawa is administratively affiliated with Raparin Administration.
A nearby house was also damaged by the fire.
Rudaw has learned that most of the victims are women, including a minor.
