ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A Kurdish woman with special needs living in Sweden has gained fame as a model. She says sitting in a wheelchair has not destroyed her dreams.
“I have not lost hope,” said Goyzha, 28. “As a model, I continue to do my work as I have bigger dreams and sitting in a chair has not ruined my dreams.”
Goyzha lost the use of her legs overnight. “I slept at night. When I woke up in the morning, I could not walk,” she recalled.
She visited many physicians in Sweden, but they all failed to identify the cause.
This has not, however, held her back. Goyzha has worked as a model for many famous Swedish companies and her photos are published in media agencies around the world.
The Kurdish model also volunteers to help others who are disabled and using wheelchairs.
“In Sweden I voluntarily encourage those people who have recently had to be in a wheelchair and are struggling to accept it. I motivate them to see life in a beautiful way and to not give up on their dreams and works.”
Goyzha was born in the town of Koya, 60 kilometers east of Erbil. She has been living with her family in Sweden for many years.
She started working as a model in 2005. She also won wheelchair races in 2007 and 2008.
