Slemani International Film Festival attracting acclaimed Egyptian Adel Emam
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Adel Emam, a highly renowned Egyptian comedian, film and stage actor will take part in the ‘3rd Slemani International Film Festival’ (SIFF).
"In the Slemani Film Festival many global actors and figures in the field of cinema will take part among them is Adel Emam, the prominent comedian/actor from Egypt," said Fuad Jalal, the manager of the film festival.
The 78-year-old Emam is primarily a comedian, but he also has starred in more serious works and, especially in his earlier films, combining comedy with romance.
Jalal explained that the third SIFF is going to be held on October 10. Many Kurdish and international films will be showcased and premiered.
Attendees should expect "surprises" as other notables will appear on the silver screen, he hinted.
“We will not reveal the name of others until the festival will start," Jalal said.
The festival will last October 10-16. It will open at Talari Hunar (Arts Building) Rudaw is the media sponsor.

In his five-decade career, Emam has received awards in Cairo, Sao Paulo, Dubai, and El-Gouna.
Emam was named a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in 2000. He has used comedy to counter Egpyt’s tumultuous political history.
