Marilyn Monroe of Mardin dreams of playing the American actress

Melek Akarmut dreams of playing Marilyn Monroe in a film and that is because she is called the Marilyn of her city. She lives in Mardin in southeast Turkey and she is stopped for autographs and selfies everywhere she goes.

“I’ve acted in some short films, but my big dream is to act in a biographical film and if it’s about Marilyn Monroe, it would be amazing.” Akarmut told Rudaw.

She says she has been likened by people to other actresses and singers, including Madonna, but Marilyn Monroe is whom she reminds many people of.

“At first they said I looked like Madonna. Now it’s Marilyn Monroe. I’m not working on this, but that’s what people say. I’m who I’m.” Akarmut said.
