ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The Peshmerga ministry said late Sunday that one of its brigades came under a drone attack in Erbil province, without accusing any party.

An explosive-laden drone struck the 11th Brigade of the Peshmerga forces in the vicinity of Degala subdistrict in Erbil province, the ministry said in a statement.

"This destructive attack is an attempt to further complicate the situation and create greater instability," it added.

The ministry did not blame any party for the attack, but the incident comes amid Iran's escalating war with Israel and the US.

It also called on Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani to "put an end to these violations and unlawful acts, and to hold those responsible accountable under the law. The continuation of such terrorist acts will not go unanswered."

Iran and its Iraqi proxies have carried out numerous attacks in Erbil since Tehran's war with Washington and Tel Aviv began on Friday. Iran claims to target US forces in the Kurdish capital.
