ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A British engine oil company was attacked with at least two Iranian Shahed drones on Wednesday morning causing a massive fire with no casualties reported.

The first attack occurred at 7:20 am, causing a massive fire before another drone slammed into the plant just over an hour later as Rudaw reporter Dilnya Rahman arrived on the scene.

US fighter jets were flying over Erbil on Wednesday after a night that saw at least 30 drone attacks across the Kurdistan Region by Iran and its proxy forces in Iraq.

“We arrived on the scene but we could not put out the fire because of imminent threats of more drones,” Jawhar Omar from the Erbil fire brigade told Rudaw.

Dashty Bilbas from Sardar Group said that the company that was attacked was British engine oil company Castrol which operates in the Kurdish region with The Group as a local partner.

“Security forces, journalists, and fire brigade personnel were on the scene when the sound of the second drone was heard forcing everyone to scatter,” Rudaw reporter Dilnya Rahman said. “The security forces ordered everyone to leave the scene because they feared more drones would hit the plant.”

An American oil company HKN was also attacked near Duhok for the second time since February 28 when Israel and the US started an extensive air campaign against Iranian military sites. The attack hit the storage oil facilities, Rudaw understands, causing damage. The first attack on March 5 caused significant damages and forced the company to stop production.
