ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Two private security guards were killed early Friday morning when a speeding vehicle struck them at a residential project in northwestern Erbil, according to their employer.
"Two of our security [guards] were hit by another vehicle while they were stopping a vehicle to enter the project, and both of them unfortunately died," Mehran Mirkhan Sherwani, director of Manager Security Company, told Rudaw.
He said the vehicle was a pickup truck and “was driving at high speed,” adding that Erbil police have launched an investigation.
Sherwani said the victims were Kurdish and among the company’s most experienced guards.
Two suspects have been arrested, Rudaw has learned.
"The two suspects in the car were drunk," according to an informed source.
