Kurdish leaders welcome G7 delegation to Erbil

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Leaders of the major industrialized countries which make-up the G7 arrived in the Kurdistan Region's capital Erbil to discuss the region's financial crisis and security issues related to the war against Islamic State as well as political and social situation with Kurdish authorities. 

“The main focus of the visit will be to discuss the economic, fiscal and social situation in the Kurdistan Region including the reforms proposed by the KRG,” said a statement by United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). 

A high-rankling delegation of Kurdish officials, including Kurdish President Masoud Barzani and Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, will meet the ambassadors of US, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. The head of the EU Delegation and the World Bank Director to Iraq are also among the EU delegation to Erbil.

According to the UNAMI statement the need for political unity and continued support of the international community will also be discussed as part of this meeting.
