"It is baffling that those who consider themselves the people of prayer, of fasting, of the Quran and Islam say yes to someone who doesn't even pray. Somebody who doesn't heed the sharia of God and you make them your representative – what will he do for you?" Bapir told supporters at a party rally on Sunday.
Komal is an opposition party in the KRG. In the Iraqi elections, it has formed an alliance in the disputed territories with Gorran and the Coalition for Democracy and Justice (CDJ). It is known for its harsh stance against the KDP.
"Somebody who hasn't reformed himself, how can he reform the country and society for you? Our people have been deceived more than once,” he said.
He urged the people to take a stance and say "I will no longer accept being deprived of my freedom."
Komal had three seats in the outgoing Iraqi parliament.
