ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Free Kurdish language lessons for diaspora communities worldwide will resume on October 1, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Thursday.

“We are preparing to start the fourth course which begins on 01-10-2025. Lessons will be taught by skilled Kurdish language teachers in Sorani, Badini and Kurmanji,” the Ministry of Education said in a statement.

The ministry has offered these courses through the Confederation of Kurdistan Diaspora Organizations Abroad since 2022. About 1,000 students from around the world have completed the program and received ministry-issued certificates.

The curriculum follows the same program as that taught in Kurdistan Region schools.

“As an educational and national duty, take advantage of this opportunity and register your children at any level and age,” the ministry said.

Last year, more than 380 students studied in the Sorani dialect and 370 in the Badini dialect, according to information obtained by Rudaw.

There is no age limit for participants, the confederation said. “Last year, Kurdish diaspora students ranged in age from 6 to 77 years old.”

The ministry said diaspora Kurds can register online.
