Peshmerga volunteers donate kidneys to save life of little girl

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Several Peshmerga volunteers expressed their willingness to donate their kidneys to help save the daughter of a Peshmerga soldier from death who has lost both her kidneys. Doctors claim that her life is at a critical condition.

A Peshmerga commander told Rudaw at the hospital that he alongside 20 other Peshmerga solders were ready to donate their kidneys to save the girl's life.

"Upon the order of the [Peshmerga] commander Masrour Barzani, we came to this hospital to donate our kidneys for the Peshmerga soldiers' daughter," said Brig. Wahid Kovli, a Peshmerga commander who has lost two of his brothers in battles against Islamic State militants.

Kovli added that they "feel the pain of Peshmerga families since we have spilled tears for losing our Peshmerga brothers too, therefore we do not want to see tear drops from another Peshmerga family,"

"I am ready to donate my kidneys if my blood type allows me to do so. And if it does not we have brought with us 20 other volunteer Peshmerga including a brother of Shaid [Martyr] Maghdid Harki to offer their blood for her," Kovli exclaimed proudly. Maghdid Harki was a Peshmerga commander who lost his life alongside a group of soldiers in December facing off an ISIS attack.

"We were called by commander Wahid Kovli for the volunteering work, we are here and will not go away until we turn the tears of her father into a smile," said Captain Sarwan Harki brother of commander Maghdid Harki.
