Peshmerga call for more Iraqi air support
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Regional Government has urged Baghdad to provide
more air support in future missions against the Islamic State, a Peshmerga spokesman said.
The call came during a high-ranking Peshmerga delegation’s visit to Baghdad on Sunday to discuss the war against ISIS in Iraq and recent developments in the Kurdistan regions, Shaho Abdulkarim, media officer to the chief of staff of the Ministry of Peshmerga, told Rudaw on Monday.
“Peshmerga forces informed Baghdad during Sunday’s meeting that they need more help from Iraqi air forces to clear the region from ISIS militants. The two sides discussed the Mosul operation and other future plans to attack ISIS in different parts of Iraq,” Abdulkarim said.
The delegation was led by Jabar Yawar, chief of staff of the Ministry of Peshmerga. Abdulkarim told Rudaw on Monday that the meeting ended with positive achievements for both sides.
