VIDEO: Peshmerga donate kidneys to save comrade's daughter
More than 20 Peshmerga and their officer came to a hospital in Erbil to donate kidneys to a girl who has lost both of her kidneys.
The medical staff first test their blood to ensure it matches the girl’s and find the right match. One volunteer is brother of Peshmerga commander Maghdid Harki who lost his life in an ISIS attack in December.
"I thought I was alone, but when Mr Wahid came here, I realized that I’m not alone anymore," the father of the little girl told Rudaw.
Commander Wahid Kovli who brought with him the Peshmerga to the hospital said that they rushed to help the girl "because she is the daughter of a Peshmerga hero."
"Kurdistan’s enemies must know that Peshmerga and their families are not alone. We are all ready to donate our kidneys. I am ready to donate my kidneys if my blood type allows me to do so. And if it does not we have brought with us 20 other Peshmerga donators. If none of their blood matches I promise to bring one hundred more volunteers," Kovli said.
