Official: senior Peshmerga officer killed in Daquq car bomb
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A top Peshmerga commander and two others were killed by an ISIS bomb that was attached to his vehicle, a Peshmerga official told Rudaw on Tuesday.
“Commander Saleh Dilmani, his guard and an officer have been martyred when their car blew up. They were visiting the Peshmerga frontlines this morning in the Atshana area,” said Ismail Hamid, the senior officer on the Daquq front.
“At least five Peshmerga fighters were also wounded due to the explosion,” he has added.
Peshmerga forces took control of Auzeria and Atshana villages in the Daquq region, south of Kirkuk, in early April, but ISIS militias have launched frequent assaults against Kurdish positions.
In a military operation last month, Peshmerga forces were able to recapture more than 30 villages in the area.
