Coalition airstrikes hammer ISIS bases in Makhmur
MAKHMUR FRONT, Mosul province – Warplanes from the US-led coalition to combat the self-proclaimed Islamic State, or ISIS, have carried out a heavy attack on military bases on the Makhmur front, a Peshmerga official said.
“Early morning today, around 3am, two Apache helicopters from the coalition forces have hit the Daesh bases in Karmrdou village, west of Makhmur, and fully destroyed their bases,” Mahdi Yunes, a Peshmerga official and spokesman to the Kurdish forces in Makhmur, told Rudaw on Saturday.
Yunes said the Kurdish Peshmerga forces provided the coalition forces with necessary intelligence several hours before the operation.
According to Mahdi, the numbers of ISIS casualties is still unknown.
