ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - For a third day in a row, the Sidakan area of northern Erbil province came under Turkish bombardments.
Two Turkish warplanes bombed the villages of Sarchaman, Gali Rash, Bani, Harmousha, and the heights of Mount Khurk, creating fear among residents of these areas, Ihsan Chalabi, mayor of Sidakan town, told Rudaw.
He did not detail the material damages or human losses in the airstrikes.
Turkey has been engaged in decades’ long border clashes with guerrillas of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
Turkey regularly carries out air raids against alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region. The PKK has its headquarters in Kurdistan’s Qandil mountains.
