Peshmerga fight off ISIS assault on Khazir front
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Islamic State militants resumed assaults against the Peshmerga on the Khazir front Monday, using three military vehicles rigged with explosives to launch their attack, Peshmerga Brigadier General Dilshad Maulood of the Zeravani Peshmerga command told Rudaw.
“Earlier this evening, ISIS militants ramped up their efforts to launch an attack against the Peshmerga on the Khazir front,” Maulood said. “Before targeting the Peshmerga, ISIS convoys were destroyed by the Peshmerga and coalition air raids.”
“As a result of the bombardment, the three car bombs and their suicide bombers were incinerated,” he added. “With the help of our intelligence information, the warplanes managed to defeat the ISIS convoys and destroy the car bombs.”
