Remains of drones fall in southwest Erbil: Sources
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The remains of two drones fell in the vicinity of a village in southwest Erbil on Tuesday, local sources told Rudaw. The origin, type, and cause of the drones' crash remain unknown.
Footage obtained by Rudaw shows a burning object in an open area in Erbil province’s Shamamk subdistrict. At least two helicopters were seen hovering over the site.
Local security and government sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the objects were drone remnants. However, it remains unclear where the drones came from, their intended destination, or who brought them down.
The government official added that no one was hurt in the incident.
The incident comes amid rising tensions in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
Several suicide drones have reportedly been intercepted over Erbil in recent days, though local authorities have yet to comment officially.
