Masterclass in Zakho helps youth learn different professions
ZAKHO, Kurdistan Region - Zakho’s youth directorate has arranged a masterclass aiming to teach around one thousand students different courses that include different professions.
The masterclass includes different courses such as tailoring, barbering, and a number of other professions.
The masterclass will last for a month and the aim of these courses will solely focus on the youth in Zakho.
Around one thousand people have registered to participate in these courses, of those, 80 percent are from Zakho, while the others are displaced people.
"80 percent of the participants are from the center of Zakho and 20 percent are displaced people," Bewar Akram, director of the youth center in Zakho, told Rudaw’s Yousif Musa on Thursday.
Suad Sabah, a tailor with more than 10 years of experience, teaches the tailoring of Kurdish clothes in the masterclass and has many female students that have an interest in the course.
One of the most important courses in Zakho’s masterclass is the barbering course with 24 participants, with 13 of them planning to open their own barber shops after finishing their course.
"There are many different styles of haircuts including classic and American haircuts and the beard has its own styles. You have to master them all to become a good barber and it takes 10 to 15 days for each model," Abdullah Ne'mat, a barber, told Rudaw.
The masterclass also includes a music course. After only 10 days of practicing, the center arranged a band with 12 members and each play their own instrument.
