The Birds of Qaradagh showcases the abundant and diverse birds of Kurdistan - particularly in Qaradagh, in the Kurdistan Region's Sulaimani province.

Blanketed with dense forests and possessing a cool climate, Qaradagh is a perfect destination for wild birds - as much so as world-famous wildlife havens.

The film took a year to complete (2018-2019), so that it could depict seasonal weather changes in all their breadth, according to Omer.

This documentary sheds light on environmental dangers posed to wildlife, and offers possible solutions on how to protect wild birds.

The Birds of Qaradagh was directed by Haidar Omer, edited by Hardi Qadir, and produced by Rudaw Media Network's Documentary Department. Korush Ararat served as advisor to the project.
